Nah, that's pretty much what I was thinking of, thanks for your answers. I guess I don't really understand why God, an omnipotent deity, would allow and even explicitly suggest (as in the case of polygamy) things that he didn't actually approve of. I mean, even if he was willing to tolerate them, why not even include a disclaimer about how this was not a good thing to do? It seems kind of counterproductive, to me anyway.

Some things, I chalk up to “not the right time or place.” Being omniscient, he knows way more than us when’s the right moment, etc. *shrugs* I don’t claim to know all of God’s reasoning. I do know enough to believe in him and follow him, and I have faith where my knowledge fails me.
