Because never before has an animal ever been known to make a sound.  They certainly don’t utilize different tones, vowel/consonant sounds, or other methods of communication.  And everyone knows that birds such as parrots and crows are completely incapable of mimicking human language- that’s “something like human speech” right there.

Here is the link to a video clip demonstrating elephants using sounds(albeit ones that we can’t hear.. or is that just the atheists playing a trick on us?) to communicate.  They also use logic and reasoning to solve a problem.

A religious person would want to trivialize child abuse to try and prove their point.  Totally “legit.”

A few problems there.

I thought he was trying to prevent them from building something in his yard. I’ve never heard that story interpreted any way other than “God was mad that they were building a tower to heaven, so he gave them all different languages as punishment.” Fuck off.

I’m not a linguist, but I know enough to say that languages usually only share a common structure if they also share a root language. Latin-based languages have a lot of similarities, because they all came from Latin, but they have very little in common with Arabic or Chinese.

The conversation’s pretty much done at this point, but seriously? That’s just silly.

Mmkay, you made a really flimsy excuse to try to explain away one of the least consequential points on the whole list. Show me you have any idea how to refute the other 11 (#13 isn’t really an evidence, so you get a reprieve on that). FYI, if even one of these is un-refutable, it still poses a huge threat to the entire theory of evolution. So I hope you don’t believe in that.

Just making noises is not a language. Mimicking noises is not a language. No animal even comes close to exhibiting anything as complex as human language, or the language center in the human brain. Try again.

Proof that you don’t study the Bible enough to be able to discredit it. From the beginning, God told mankind to spread out and cover the earth. However, they disobeyed this, instead grouping together into one people and glorifying themselves by building a tower, basically as a monument to themselves. God punished them both for their arrogance and for not obeying his command to spread across the earth. The confounding of their languages caused them to be unable to communicate as a cohesive group, so they did what God had wanted in the first place—split up.
