Another funny Evolution thing about fossils. There are fossils of species that are still around today, and those species are the same as they are in the fossils. Shouldn't they have changed by now? But, as for the earth being made in a week... Could 2 Peter verse 8 imply that maybe it was actually seven thousand years?

True that, about the fossils.
(But no, because “yom” used in combination with the rising and setting of the sun, and “yom” used with a quantified number, is always a literal day. No exceptions. Plus, if this were the case, every other usage of yom in the Bible would mean a long expanse of time. And observing the Sabbath day would be pretty hard.)
